Am i stupid? when i wired my coin button to the ipac, it would always type the number 5 for the button press, yet i run mame32, and like every games coin button is 3 or 4, am i using the wrong version of mame, or what? we already reprogrammed the ipac but i was curious why it's like that.

I dunno, coin-ups are usually 5 and 6.  Just check what they're set for when you run a game (with the tab key) or delete the default.cfg file

Can't think of anything else, I've installed 20-ish i-pacs, yet I don't think I've ever used them with mame32 :)

Back for nostalgia, based on nostalgia.

I noticed when I rebuilt my version 71 romset for version 36 that many of the coin insert buttons changed to 3 and 4.

Odd - MAME used 1 and 2 for start and 3 and 4 for coin in the old days.  Later it was changed to 1,2,3,4 start and 5,6,7,8 coin.  I want to say this happened somewhere in the 0.31 to 0.33 cycle, but I couldn't verify this.

I remember using one of the .36 iterations that used 5,6,7,8 for coins.  Maybe not all the ROMS were updated at once?  (Like I know anything about it.)
What was that again?
