hey i know how you feel. i told my older brother my tokens will be coming in soon, and he says "you have tokens as well *rolls eyes*". yeah im a dork i guess, but ive been called worse

. plus, id take the positive comments like "oh man, thats awesome!" and "you are a friggin genious! howd you build that??"....over "you are such a dork" any day!

Just receive my Tokens lastnight and they are GREAT. Now the wife has proof I'm crazy.

I took a couple to work this morning and one of the guys is a coin collector. He begged to buy one off of me for his collection. Seems he collects tokens also. He says that the detail on these are far superior to any other token he has ever seen.

P.S. I did part with one of the tokens when he raised his offer to $1.00 for one token. Now I can tell the wife I'm going to make a profit on this hobby.

My wife has been oddly supportive of the whole token thing. I really believed that she's see it as a pointless waste since the coin returns are already wired for coin action. She must be getting ready to spend a lot of money....

My wife has been supportive too. As a matter of fact, she has actually been the Business Manager for this whole thing, tracking orders, packing and shipping tokens, and generally oveseeing things. (She caught the fact that I was under-recovering for the shipping earlier.)

My daughter has done most of the counting, and there is a mind-numbing lot of it. I just built her a 'guage' to speed the process.

My free time has been non-existent lately and none of the orders would be out yet if it weren't for them.

OK, the Nickel Tokens arrived.

We will start shipping ASAP, in first-in first-out order. We are short on Priority Mail shipping boxes (we ordered them last week) so not all orders will ship right away. Most of the earlier orders should ship in the next day or two.

I will also try to get new pics out tonight, tomorrow latest.

{Edit: Pretty cool that this was my 600th post. I had about 200 for the seven months before this token adventure.}

woohoo!!! to be honest i totally forgot that i ordered these until about 2 weeks ago. of course i was getting married so i had other things on my mind

but anyway, the pics look great and i cant wait to try them out on my mechs! oh and im using TheNasty's mechs...they work great!

Unfortunately the nickel tokens are even more difficult to photograph. I probably won't have time until the weekend to get better pictures for the first post in this thread.

I took the photo above late last night (after some good-natured prodding from Chris

) but looking today I think that once again they don't do the tokens justice.

The nickel tokens are very bright and shiny - even more so than the brass ones. In the photo above they look sort of washed out and almost golded-toned. This is not how they look in real life. Imagine a
bright, shiny, new quarter, and IMHO they look nicer than even than that.

Bummer. I knew this was going to happen. The arrival of the 50/50 token order I sent in will perfectly coincide with the departure date of my vacation.

Oh well. I should have a surprise in the mailbox when I come home.

I put the tokens on a window sill in full daylight and used a 4MP Minolta camera in macro mode without flash. The photo's don't reflect how shiny they are, but you can see the huge amount of detail!

however, im just wondering....when should i start to worry if theyve been sent out? by the end of this week? end of next week?

If you are in the US, I would start to worry on Wednesday. If you are in the East you will probably get them today or tomorrow.

Every order shipped USPS priority mail by Saturday, except for my one Australian customer whose order had to go another way because it was too heavy for priority mail. That one could take a week or so.

I am glad everyone seems to like their tokens. They came out better than I had hoped. I am especially happy with the nickel tokens. They are very money-like.

Now to wrap things up a little bit.

Once again, I want to extend my sincere thanks to Chris and Pixelhugger for thier public artistic support and private decision support for this effort. We were a great team, and the finished product shows it. Thanks guys.

I also want to thank the providers of all the great designs and feedback in the Token Design thread. This was a really fun collaboration. It was a bit rocky at times, but I think we managed to make almost everyone happy. I also get some personal satisfaction that it was the most popular thread in BYOAC history. Why can't I pick stocks this well?

Thanks to TILZS for making it possible for credit card users to participate!

Once again thanks to my wife Leslie and daughter Emily who did all of the management and shipping of the orders. You all would have have recieved your orders around November if I had to find the free time to do all that.

Thanks to my entire family includng my sons Ben and Zack for putting up with my obsessing over arcade machines and tokens for 3 months. You guys rule.

And finally thanks to Saint for all the obvious reasons. :-)

A few months ago I said I wouldn't do this again, but seeing how these came out I might reconsider. Let's talk about it in May, shall we?

I have forgetten that 400 tokens doesn't look like a lot. Been a long time since I dumped $70-80 at Funspot back in the day. What was it again, 120 tokens for $20 (6 per $)? I may have to order up another batch...

Well off to dump all these into my pocket and reminisce of the days when I was King of Funspot with my shorts falling off...
