Converting arcade guns to work with PC, possible?
« on: May 11, 2004, 05:54:15 am »
I purchased a sharpshooter cabinet recently which I plan to convert to my own custom arcade cabinet.  Sharpshooter is a game made by the exact same company that made poloce trainer, and the cabinet and guns are the same as police trainer.  The game boards do not work but everything else does.  Anyway, I wanted to know what I could do to make it so the guns in the cabinet could work with a PC.  Specifically, I want to be able to play games such as police trainer in mame using those guns.  I would like to make it a USB connection but dunno what steps are necessary and have no idea how the mame lightgun support option works.

The only people I know that may know is happs.  I asked too, and I haven't found a way.  The pc has to flash white so the gun can pick up a position, that's the trick.

By the time you bought all the stuff to do it, you'd be better off getting the act labs gun and putting it into another case.

yeah id love to get a couple of guns so i can play some gun games for mame and the NES and stuff, but unfortunately thats not possible yet.  and i dont want to waste my money on the act labs marvin the martian guns....they look gay.....they work pretty good but not perfect.  so i figure ill wait a few years and act labs will perfect (or at least come close) their gun and make it a little more pleasing to the eye and also allow for multiple guns to be used at the same time.....i know it can do it now, but i want it to be easy!  so i guess just a wait a while.
