Help with KDS monitor interference
« on: May 10, 2004, 07:26:13 pm »
I am very frustrated with the recent purchase of the KDS Pixeltouch 21" monitor from CSO.  Is there any way to fix the interference problem I am having on this beast?  2"x 8" discoloration is not gonna work for my cab, looks like crap.  Unfortunately these "bargains" cost so much to ship it would cost more to send it back for replacement than it is worth, I've already spent $50 for the monitor and $70 for shipping so sending it back (another $70) is too costly.
Any help would be appreciated.  Pic is attached, the pink area is the affected part, should all be blue.  Thanks for looking in

It really looks like nothing more than a degaussing problem to me, not a monitor fault.
Where are your speakers? Do you have any large metal objects close by ( my garage door does this to my monitor even though it's a couple of meters away ).

The problem is solved, degaussing was all that was needed.  Simple solutions sometimes escape me.  Thank you Apollo for your help!  ARCADIAC!

Where are these hidden buttons?

Ha ha ha...  When I first received my monitor (a year ago or so) and I plugged it in, it didn't work!  I was very angry.  I cracked it open to see if I could fix it.  What I found was that the power button and some others were not visible from the outside, but once I knew they were there they are simple to find.

When I'm facing the screen, the buttons are on the left side of the monitor (the side shown in the following picture)  :

There's a green lightbulb sticking out.  On one side there is a single hole, and on the other there are 4 holes in the shape of a diamond.  I took apart a BIC pen and I use the plastic ink tube to stick in the holes to reach the buttons.  The single hole is the power button, and diamond pattern has degauss, and basically up/down/left/right for navigating an on-screen menu for normal monitor adjustments.
