Betson-Imperial pushbuttons vs. Happs
« on: May 10, 2004, 10:51:17 am »
Hey, I found someone locally that sells pushbuttons for a nice price.  He buys them from Betson-Imperial apparently and they use Zippy microswitches.

My question is: How do these compare with Happs buttons/Cherry micros if anyone has experience with them.  I haven't seen the buttons in person, but he says they look identical to Happs buttons other than the diferent micros.

So has anyone used these before? Feelings? I'm also considering leaf buttons, so let's not have that debate in this thread, I'm just looking for a comparison of microswitch buttons.
first off your and idiot

When you get one in your hands, turn it over.  It there an insignia "iL" on it?  If so, then they are the same as Happ buttons.  If not...

great info, thanks Peale. I will definitely do that once I get a hold of one.

Anyone use Zippy micros before?  Are they louder than Cherry

I've used both the Betson pushbuttons and the Happ pushbuttons.  The zippy MS require slightly more pressure to trigger (IMO).  The buttons themselves feel and look very, very similar.

You can order the Betson PBs with Cherry microswitches.  Should only be about $0.20 more.

Also, the player 1 and 2 buttons are slightly different in design to the Happ ones.  They have upside-down V shaped legs instead of straight ones.  Makes no difference to me though.

It might be worth it for me to grab some of these then.

Any difference in the noise of the 2 microswitches.  It doesn't really matter too me, but I guess it'd be nice to know.
