Advice needed on my first restoration project
« on: May 06, 2004, 03:15:28 pm »
I just won this this cab as the base for my first restoration project.

Any tips would be appreciated as to what might be the cause of the video problems described.  I plan to try the following :

  • I have a K7400 monitor at home so I will test it with that to rule out monitor problems.
  • I will inspect for solder/PCB trace problems, and check the chips to be sure they are properly seated.
  • I will check the power supply voltage output.
Any other suggestions?  Did I get a good deal on this cab being that shipping was 1$?

Dave

Nice Santoro

I think its a nice bin price. Are you local to him our are you hoping for that $1 shipping? :)

Good luck on the video problem, im sure it will be an easy fix.

I looked at his past auctions, he shipped a lot of pinball machines for 1$, from what I can tell.  He has very positive feedback.

I am not local, so I expect the 1$ shipping.  Maybe his dad works at a freight company or something.

We'll see...

[gilda radner voice] Never Mind [/gilda radner voice]

The guy claims the 1$ shipping  was a mistake.  I wasn't going to hold him to it lest he abscond with my money, so I let him out of it and got my refund.

 :'(  Could have been nice.

So do I leave negative feedback?

I vote yes to leaving negative feedback.  Especially since, as you said, he had other things listed as $1 shipping too.
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

I looked closer at his other auctions, in the text he specifies 1.10 per mile.   I think it was an honest mistake so I am going to let it die.

The cab is in florida, anyone interested should watch ebay because he indicated he was going to re-list it.
