I am a student at UC Davis, and was wondering if there are any others here in town.

I'm in Chico, a little ways away. Any particular reason you are looking for locals?

I'll be spending the summer in Santa Clara, which is sort of nearby.  Isn't it?  I'll be out there without my cab.   :'(

I'm in Folsom (no, I'm not incarcerated) which is about 40 miles East of you.

Where do you get your arcade parts in the Sacramento area?  I know there is a shop in Placerville, but it looks expensive.

Specific arcade parts I buy most everything on-line, generally from Happs. Otherwise a quick trip to Fry's. :)

I'm not aware of an arcade parts store anywhere, tell me more about this Placerville store. Sometimes if I want/need something in a hurry I'm willing to pay more for it.

It might not be the cheapest, but when you consider shipping I think one could get some good deals there.

I was asking because I am building my first cab and wondered if anyone who is also in this hobby wanted to hook up and exchange ideas in person. I think that anyone that is also nuts for arcades enough to build there own would hit it off real well with me.
I am actually from San Mateo (13 miles south of San Francisco), but I am at school in Davis right now (and that's where my cab will be).

That sounds like a good idea.  I have three cabinets if you need any measurements.  Also I plan on building my first cab possibly this summer, so helping you out would be good experience for me.  you can email me at bcerreca@(the usual UCD address info).

I am back home for the weekend, but I'll email you when I get back on Sun night. Maybe we could meet up at the arcade on campus sometime next week.

I don't have a means of transportation and since Davis is in bum-f**k nowhere, I can't meet up with anyone outside of Davis >:(. But it would be good for us to know that there are others who are in are area so we can inform each other of local venders and such. ;D

I the G street Pub.  They have good bands there all the time, and there is usually a hot dog stand outside around midnight.

Now are you living in Folsom or are you "in Folsom" meaning Folsom Prison?  BTW what are they doing with the road that goes over the Folsom Dam?  Are they going to close it due to terrorist threats forever or has it been re-opened?  We have a Dam in Oroville, but the experts do not feel it is at risk since it is made entirely of earth; they said you could blow it up, but it would take 2 or 3 train cars full of explosives to do it.

I'm in Sacramento, my girlfriend is a UCD student however so I'm in Davis semi-frequently...  I haven't been around the boards much lately (kinda fell out of emulation for a while) but starting to hang around again...  I've already built up one cabinet (was a 33" Showcase cabinet, but ended up selling it as it was just too big for my living space) and plan on doing another at some point...

I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die...

I live close to the prison, but definitely on the outside.

I just moved here from SoCal 6 months ago, so the dam road has been dam closed the entire dam time I've been here, and I always see dam signs that say things like re-open the dam road. It's really a dam shame.

I was hoping we'd hear from the originator of this thread as well...  I've been curious for a bit who's in this area as well, might be nice to get together with some of the other BYOAC people and compare notes on plans or upcoming projects, or check out their work...  I am currently in the process of planning out a new cabinet that I might start on in the next few months, but still trying to make some design decisions...

Okay, my arcade cab deal fell through.  :'( My girlfriend has a coworker whose family owns several vending businesses. I was going to get an old cab that wasn't worth fixing up for pretty cheap, and that meant that I could actually get my machine up and going while balancing school too. You'd think that someone would jump at the chance to get cash for someone else hauling away their junk, but these guys just aren't motivated to make this happen >:(. I keep getting excuses when we are supposed to meet up, and they don't seem to really want to make time for me. I don't have the time or tools to build one, so any one have any leads or one for sale?
Please PM me if you are in the area and have or know of a cab for sale.
