power supply
« on: July 24, 2002, 03:29:41 am »
Hey all.  On my mame cabinent I want to be able to use like a puch/pull toggle switch to turn the cpu on.  On my power switch to my power supply I have four wires a white black blue and brown.  What are these wires for, and is it possible to just use to of them?  Thanks!

Is it an AX or ATX power supply (I suspect ATX)?  If its an ATX you need a momentary pushbutton for the power button.  It will hook to the motherboard where the cases powerbutton was hooked.  If its an AT supply I think you will need a double pole single throw (DPST) switch.  You will have to check which wires are connected together when the switch is on and then hook them to the new switch the same way (be carfull! ATs put 115V to the switch.)
