Any HOUSTON area MAMEers here??
« on: April 27, 2004, 02:05:30 pm »
I was able to make Callans auction in Houston this past weekend and picked up a few cabs to turn into MAME cabs. I'm definitely green at this stuff though. Anyone in the Houston area willing to help a rookie along? I will be using a SF II cab for my first project. e-mail me at cardnutt@yahoo.com if you'll let me pick your brain for my first project! Thanks!!

I live out by HP. What did you get at the auction?

Just pick the brain of the people in this forum. There are lots of creative people around.
I have changed my nickname to "Cakemeister". Please do not PM the Buddabing account because I do not check it anymore.

cw,

Thanks for the reply.  What's your e-mail address?

Buddabing,

I picked up a Street Fighter II cab with PCB for $1. Actually, it was free. I found 4 quarters in it when I was cleaning it out... ;D . I also got a Rygar cab with nice marquee and monitor for $15. Not sure if the monitor works. I purchased it for a MAME conversion anyways. Finally, I stretched the wallet and picked up a real nice Golden Tee 2K for $500. Everything is working (marquee light, coin doors, monitor, etc..) and it even has a working dollar bill accepter. It's actually a GT'99. Looks like someone switched the boards, but Callan said when he gets a 2K board he'll swap me straight up. Cool guy!

As for picking brains on these boards, I'll definitely do that. I just wanted someone in the area that could come and do a quality check on my cab, maybe let me check out their cab to get an idea of what all the wiring looks like, and maybe help with the software. I basically need a MAME mentor.  ;D . I don't plan on this first cab being my last so I'd like to learn from someone who has done a few of these so that I don't have to ask so many dang questions on #2-??? Also, #1 is going to be a gift for 3 of my nephews, so I'd like it to work...
