Should I rescue these?
« on: April 24, 2004, 10:09:52 pm »
Hey everyone. My coworkers knows of my recent obsession with wanting to build a mame cabinet, and they told me of a place that had 5 or 6 cabinets out in the weather just sitting there. So i finally got out there today and took some pics. I couldnt believe where they were, they were sitting outside of a building that used to be called Food N Fun like 12 years ago, it was a fairly decent size game room (for our small town) Now the windows are all boarded up and its shut down.
They have no control panels and some are in bad shape, but there could be some potential in a few of them. There is NO telling how long they have been out there, so im sure it has rained on them several times. Will the wood still be ok from all that? Anyway here are the pics:

The plywood cabinets should be fine (the Turbos, Galaxian, that SFII/Track and Field), the particle board ones will likely be ruined.

I would grab them all though. Strip the remaining parts on the particle board cabs and dumpster them, keep the plywood cabinets for your own projects.

After more carefully looking at ALL the pictures.

Grab them all except the Moon Cresta (the one that is swollen up). All the others look fine, and you seem to have several Nanoa 20" monitors there (nice monitors, good tubes, don't tend to burn in, are in the Turbos). Pull the coin door off the moon cresta though, no need to let a nice door rust away.

Seriously, grab them now!!!

Restore that Galaxian... o man, that would be so sweet.

That all black cab looks to have some MAME potential, as well as the SF cab.  And the Turbos are just too damn cool. I really like that cab design.

Take them. GO GO GO

PS - Give me a Turbo  ;D ;)
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.

If you're in Richmond, VA, then no, don't grab them.  They're junk.  By the way, what's the address of that place?  Just out of curiosity, of course...  ;)

That Galaxian has some sweet artwork.  Every time I try to take black off mine, I keep taking off the black that's supposed to be there.

That said, it appears the cabs are standing in water.

No kidding.  I never find stuff like this in San Diego.
