Joystick Hole Size

I am reaching for the simplest question of all time but I'll be damned if I can find this here or on the Ultimarc site.

I am installing a T-Stick balltop in my panel.  What size hole do I drill for the joystick shaft?

A 1 1/8" hole should be fine.

I just made a test Control Panel and cut the hole using 1 1/8" Spade Bit using my Electric Drill. Its perfect for the shaft on the T-Stiks and its the same size hole for the Buttons so you don't have to swap Spade Bits, just keep on drilling.

I was just about to ask a very similar question !
I was on happ controls website looking at the ultimate joy and wondering what size to drill.

Should it be 1 1/8" or 1.25" ?

The T-stick has a 33mm wide top (at least that's what it says in the diagram, mine is 31mm). If you drill a 1 1/8" hole you'll need to take the stick apart for mounting.

I just measured, but the stick standard only moves less than 20mm or about 3/4". The balltop only 14mm (9/16").

So, if you are planning to take the stick apart you can driller a much smaller hole. Especially if you are hiding those dust covers it will look a lot better when the hole is smaller.

Also the dust washer on the ball top is much smaller then the regular tstick handle.  If you are using a ball top make sure you drill a smaller hole or else the washer will not cover it all.
