Pre-wired PSX controllers
« on: April 16, 2004, 06:23:58 pm »
I am working on my "el cheapo" arcade controller for my PC and my soldering guy bailed.  So now I have a Joy Box 5 and two PSX controllers and I do not feel confident enough in my soldering skills to solder them without destroying them.  SO, I am looking for alternatives.  I did notice RedOctane offers a pre wired PSX controller board installed in a controller housing with no buttons or joystcks for $25.  I e-mailed them to see if I could get the setup minus the housing, but have heard nothing yet.  Can anyone help me?  What should I do? Try to solder my controllers? Sell my controllers and joy box and go for a keyboard encoder? Buy the redoctane setups?

The $25 for redoctane's thing there is a pretty good deal IMO.  Even if you can't get them cheaper without the box, you should see if you can buy the whole thing and just ask them to keep the box to save on shipping.  Or buy the whole thing and try to sell the box on e-bay or something.

And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again

I use bees as a mf'n pen

Since I will be buying at least 2 of these ($50) I will not have to pay shipping from Redoctane.  Anything over $40 ships free (pretty good deal).  Of course I must add CA state sales tax of $.0725 per dollar.  This money goes to save rare albino sausage worms and to hire people to punch smokers in the face.  Ahh, being forced to care...  Actually the $$ goes into the endless blackhole that is California's budget.  Oh well.

Hmm... didn't know about the free shipping thing.  Sounds like an awesome deal to me.  Metter of fact, I think I may buy a couple myself.
