I will get a VGA box for DC. From the packaging, I see Virtua Cop 2 and Hour of the Dead 2 suppport VGA.

Does the official Sega gun work when using the game with a 31kHz VGA monitor?

Yes,however you may have to jack up then brightness then calibrate the gun from games menu.
