Atari Basketball possibilities

Ok, I recently picked up a non-working Atari Basketball. After collecting the coins inside I ended up being paid $1.25 to take it!

Ok, if I can repair the boardset myself I am just going to restore it, but if I can't, then I am probably going to part it. (cab rough at the bottom, trackballs need new rollers, and the control panel artwork is nearly gone).

But, as I was hefting this monster sideways down into my basement I realized how perfect this cabinet would be for Mame.

#1. It is 29.5" Wide. The average classic cab clocks in at 24" wide. I didn't measure the control panel, but I am guessing it is around 14" deep, if not more.

#2. Very nice monitor shelf for easy mountage!

#3. Tons of interior room.

I used to say Defender was the best classic cabinet for Mame, but I might be changing my opinion, as this one has a stock panel large enough for the standard frankenpanel layout!

Before anyone asks why I would part it if I can't repair the boardset, well it is simple financial logic. If I can repair the boardset, then restoration of this machine will only run me about $100 (4 new trackball rollers at $10 each, a cap kit on the monitor, and a new custom CPO). But if I have to send the boardset out, then I am looking at more like $230 ish. So that would be spending $230 and 20+ hours to restore a machine to a state where it would be worth, $230. Not sure if that is worth my time, especially since it would part out right now for nearly that price and leave me with a cabinet that has a monster control panel.

I don't mean to sound like some sort of money grubber, but it is just simple economics, this is not an A list classic, and it was in poor enough shape that I was able to buy it for $5 at auction.
