Man am I worn out, but after 2 solid days on the weekend, I have a cabinet (that still needs some work).
I got my father down, he has a lot of tools (jigsaw, circular saw, work benches, files, drills etc), and we got stuck in.
Its based on lusids plans (but arent most of them), however I a do feel proud to have actually constructed it myself - huge achievement in my world.
I ended up going with 16mm MDF as that most matched the inch based T-Molding from the US (16mm ~ 5/8").
Because its thinner MDF, and just to be on the safe side (may not have been necessary, but anyway) we constructed a frame to hold the monitor up (eventually a WGD9200 when I have the $$s, for the time being a 19" PC monitor). The frame took the most time !
The following is left to do (in terms of construction):
(1) Put the CP together (its cut). Its a 4p panel, Later I might make a smaller one with addition controls such as a track ball etc).
(2) Put the back on (its cut)
(3) Put the Marquee shelf on (its cut)
(4) Cut and add the monitor shelf, coin door, and the
TOP / BACK 45 angled bit.
Most impressed so far. The routing of the slot for the t-molding turned out to be pretty easy (I thought it was going to be hard for some reason).
I will get the piccies off the camera dumped onto the PC and post some (still haven't sorted the web page out yet).
One question, have people found it handy to have the back hinged ? Or generally is there little need to have access from the back ?
The coin door will be hinged, so there will be lower access via the front. Will I ever need to gain access to the rear of the monitor ?
Cheers
Joe.
