Hello

I just acquired a Pole Position 2 machine that had a non working monitor.  When I got the machine home and plugged it in.  The monitor fired up and works.

But there's an issue with the colours.  The title screen and the game play screen are displaying the images but the colours are screwed up.  Also the colours are different for each track.  (Ex: The Test Track has red and white bars as the track colours but the Fuji track has yellow and red bars as the track colours.  Instead of the normal grey track colour)

Also there are thick black lines running through the images.  Even know the lettering on the top of the screen is displaying properly in White.

And when I'm at the "Select Track" menu, the colours are perfect and there's no thick lines running through the images.

So I'm confused why it looks good for one screen and different for another.

Since this in my 1st arcade machine.  I thought I'll ask the experts here for advice.  As I opened the back panel and played with the various colour knobs on the back of the monitor.  But none of them fixed the colours.

Bad colors (hate to sound like broken record here) but has a cap kit been done on it?  Just a thought--I don't know if pole position is jamma or not but can you swap another game in there and see how it looks?

As far as a dirty board--you could just use canned air to blow it off--not to hard though--who knows how solidly all your parts are on there--do it outside too  ;D  I've heard of some people throwing them in the dishwasher but as I've never done this I can't recommend it.

its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

How would I know if a Cap Kit has been done on it?  I'm assuming no, as I have no idea what that is..  Nor do I have another board to plug into the cabinet.

Just read your (menace) monitor FAQ.  Going to see if I can order a Cap Kit.  I know my monitor is a Electrohome G07.  So I hope The Real Bob Roberts can help me.

That doesn't sound like a monitor problem, sounds like a board issue.  Since it's a PP, it's going to likely have the usual PP problems.  Do a Google, you'll find answers, and not good ones.

Search Google and I've narrowed the issue down to a faulty track/background chip.

So I just have to find a another board and swap the chips.

Now if I can just replace the battery.... Any tips on how to replace that?

Thanks!!
