« on: March 22, 2004, 07:53:49 pm »
My dad has a dremel hand held tool. I am not familar with this tool. Will it drill holes for control panel buttons?

Will it drill through wood? plastic? thin steel? aluminum??? plexi?

thanks

A dremel could do it with some of the various attachments out there for it, but a drill and drillbit would be the best choice.

And FYI, you can re-name the topic, just modify the original post.  If you do that though you may want to remove your second post to avoid confusion.

If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

They are not really made for that type of operation.

The chuck is too small for the bits you need to do it right, and the motor doesn't have enough torque to move much wood.

They are designed more for grinding type stuff than drilling.
To drill with it, you'd have to basically grind out the hole to get it the right size.

If you can get access to a drill, you'll finish it much better, and alot quicker.

Yeah, all you need is a drill, and a 1.125 (1 and 1/8th) inch hole saw...  that will make short work of drilling control panel holes.

Even my nice power drill took so long and got so hot using a forstner bit on pine that I purchased a drill press.

Wowser.  I think this thing will be my friend for a long time to come.

If you know someone who has a drill press, bug them till you can use it.  It won't take long.

What was that again?
