okay, im getting ready to do some routing for the t-molding on my showcase style cab. look at the pic for the side view of the control panel/pedestal part of the cab. anyway, the flat side is obviously the front of the pedestal, and i know im going to route out that part for t-molding, but my question is, do i need t-molding on that back part? the slanted part part on the back is what im talking about. what do you guys think?

i would go ahead and do it. it really doesn't take that long to do and it will look better when you walk around it to get a beer um i mean soda yeah soda.

I'd put t-molding on any edge that will be in view. So, for an upright cab that will most likely be placed against a wall, there is no need for t-molding on the edges on the back. For your showcase style, the back of the pedestal will be visible so I'd put t-molding on the edges of it.

Even on an upright cab I think you should put t-molding all the way around. Not only will it protect the edges when your moving your cab through a doorway or something, but you never know where the cab will end up in the future. Maybe one day you'll have it in some position where the back is visible. It's not remotely expensive and will take very little extra time or effort.

cool, the routing takes like 3 seconds to do, so ill just route everywhere i can. thanks for the tips

MOST original cabinets did not have t-molding in back, usually it went up and over the top, and about 2 inches down the back.

Most had it on the bottom, but a few did not.

Although some cabinets did have the stuff all the way around.
