Question: Competition Joysticks
« on: March 17, 2004, 03:06:57 pm »
All,

I have just installed two NOS Wico balltop microswitch joysticks in my control panel.  The problem is, circular movement (moving the joystick clockwise or counter clockwise) is blocky.  Essentially, it feels like I'm moving along the edge of a square.

This has caused me some problems in Street Fighter since it is hard to do D-DF-F without instead doing D-DF-F-UF.

Question:  Does the Happ Competition Joystick feel blocky as well?  Anyone have a joystick recommendation for SNK Capcom games?

I know the Super doesn't feel blocky but it seems that it is hard to feel the diagonals as well.

I don't play fighters, so I can't say for sure how they will work; but the competitions feel pretty smooth.
They are not as smooth as the supers, and do go to the corners relatively easily, so they may be a good compromise for you.

I play a whole lot of MK1 and the comps are excellent for pulling off fighting moves, fatalities etc. I have no complaints at all.
