Light gun question
« on: March 13, 2004, 02:20:03 pm »
I'm trying to set up a Lik Sang PC virtual gun in a cab running Win98SE with mamepp 0.78 and an ArcadeVGA card.  When I first installed the gun Windows loaded drivers for a "Human Interface Device".  I've enabled light gun support in the .ini file but I can't get any games to recognize the gun.  My trackball/mouse still works in all light gun games.

Am I missing a configuration paramter somewhere?

Thanks.

btw... have an actlabs gun... so cant give specifics..  But what I would do

1)  get it working in windows with a standard monitor in windows
  a) doesn't work?  Increase brightness on monitor... try other monitor.
  b) go on..

2) get it working in windows with arcadevga -> arcade monitor in windows
  a) again... increase brightness... If not... you will probably have to redo your video -> arcade monitor cable to seperate the syncs... don't remember which to do... but that was some peoples problem in the past... (search this site and you will hopefully find the answer)

3) get it working in mame (then analog+ for reload) without mame able to change screen resolutions or bpp... but with hardware stretching....

4) get it working in different resolutions.

light guns are very fickle... step by step helps figure out where the problem is... probably your monitor though.

I've heard that only ActLabs guns work with MAME so far, but I'm not sure...
