I am looking to add to my collection. This is an Arkanoid machine. Looks like the artwork is missing, but everything else is working (so the vendor says). CPO is a little banged up, but could be fixed. What would you guys offer (in USD or CDN $$$).

Thanks

edit: and now the pic...

remember, Arkanoid is a conversion... so there's no premium for a "mint original cab" to speak of...   so it's worth what a used "blank" cabinet is worth plus an arkanoid board and spinner/cp...

*Shrug* I'd definitely pay LESS than 500 dollars (USD) and I'd more than likely not want to spend more than $350, but that's just me, and I'm cheap... paige might have a more realistic idea of a price as he buys cabinets more often..

I also suggest doing an ebay search for completed auctions (advanced search option) and see how much arkanoid cabs have gone for in the past to get a sense of the range of prices....

good luck!

Offer $200, and don't go over $350 on it.

Arkanoid IS one of the more desirable conversion games, but it IS a conversion game, and thus is never going to be very valuable.

Subtract $20 or $30 if the game has a "Tayto" copyright displayed in attract mode, because that means it is a bootleg boardset, and thus might not be as reliable as an original.

I'll agree with Paige. Nice Arkanoid conversions typically fetch $300 to $350 at the auctions around here.

$350 should be your price ceiling simply because you can build a conversion arkanoid or a Mame arkanoid at that price.

OK, so I talk to the guy who is selling the Arkanoid machine, and he is also selling a Double Dragon and Wonder Boy Monster Land. I believe they are also in a little rough shape from the picture (in the pic above, the DD cab is next to the Arkanoid).

paigeoliver suggested start at $200 and max out at $350 for the Arkanoid machine. I am thinking of buying all three. What would you guys offer for all three?

(paigeoliver, what do you suggest?)

Thanks again all,

Garry

Arkanoid may be a conversion only game, but in my opinion it's the very best of the "bust up the bricks" games, and as such would make it worth considerably more than many dedicated games, at least to me.

I agree, that is why I set a $350 ceiling on it (at least on THAT one). Many dedicated games are only worth $200 regardless of condition.

Now, if it was THE Arkanoid, which is an Arkanoid conversion kit in a clean Taito cabinet with painted Taito sideart and perfect overlay, then I would go more on it, as I consider those "dedicated".

I tend to look for really good deals. 700 for all 3 is teh most I'd pay, and only if they were in decent shape.
