Another Pac-Man Cocktail
« on: November 26, 2025, 02:59:27 pm »
Hey everyone!

I just wrapped up another project and wanted to share. I’ve been in and out of this hobby since 2002 when I first found this forum. Way back then, I built a budget cocktail cabinet from scratch with no instructions — it worked, but let’s just say “authentic” wasn’t its strong point.

I decided to take another swing at it and set out to build a replica Pac-Man cabinet using the plans from Mike’s Arcade https://www.mikesarcade.com/arcade/cabplans.html. I’ve been chipping away at it since spring, and it’s finally come together.

Here are some photos from the build process. Enjoy!

..as his cold lifeless fingers lie motionless on the garage floor, all he could hear in his head was...I JUST WANTED TO PLAY A GAME OF DONKEY KONG!!

Definitely very nice.

I once gave the plans for this very same cabinet to a local "carpenter", and he completely ruined it by not following the plans and my specs. Making ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- up as he went again and again until I said "enough X".

I was fuming. I won't go into the details, it'll just make me feel angry. Took me about two years to cool off enough to talk to him again.

It was my fault for having faith in him. I am more forgiving these days, much calmer and more realistic now - He has his uses, even if they are few. He made some nice wooden stools for me - a little unorthodox, but I like them. I can just show him a picture and he does it.

For something like this you are always better off doing it yourself.

Anyway, sorry for that rant. I love your build and it shows how having a vision, attention to details, and accurately following a plan, can create something beautiful.
