Arcade Game Inspired Thrash Metal
« on: October 02, 2025, 05:48:39 pm »

Album Name: Arcade Onslaught
Included Tracks: 25 (+1)
Total Play Time: 98 minutes, 27 seconds (+6 minutes, 40 seconds)

Arcade Onslaught is a thrash/hard metal double album I put together using a combination of AI and conventional PC tools.  I focused on making these songs as realistic sounding as possible... if you find something ... ANYTHING ... that doesn't meet that expectation... feel free to discuss.  As with my last project... I did it for me... but you're welcome to it as well.  100% FREE.  When it asks for a donation amount at bandcamp to download... just put in 0.00 ... it's that simple. I do hope you enjoy this... and frankly... if you're in to aggressive forms of metal... I think you will.

The YouTube links on the BYOAC post aren't working for me, but the ones on bandcamp do.
They copy and paste as http://"http//youtu.be/uzqz_TLaaF0%22 if that helps.

Only listened to a few, but am digging Trigger the Undead (listened multiple times).

I'm impressed with the lyrics on CarnEvil Calls.  Lots of interesting wording choices.
I am curious exactly what is AI and what is not if you are willing to share.

If you're taking requests or looking for ideas, I'd like some grunge.
The crunchy heavy guitar stuff, not the whiny 2000's pop radio stuff.

Thanks for the report.  I fixed the youtube links.

The lyrics are a combination AI/personal effort.  AI still likes to mix things up... and just straight up get things wrong.  I would create a lyric ... then go through it fixing the errors and sometimes completely re-writing whole passages due the dumb system mixing up the latest Ghosts and Goblins game (for example) with the classic.  I'd estimate about 50-60% of the lyrics generated were modified or completely re-written.  Being more familiar with some games than others,  I found those games easier to do so.  Some games I'd never played before (Evil Night for example)... I watched a bit of youtube and read up about the game, etc...

Grunge would be an interesting project.  I was thinking Metalcore could be fun too.

I got eviscerated over at the Neo-Geo forums for >ghasp< the project being AI... (even though I was up front about it)... so in their honor I was thinking my next project will be a Neo-Geo dedicated project... dedicated to those fine chaps who stuck my post in their War Room (thereby killing the post as I don't do war rooms anymore... just too old and not enough time in life)...

:D

Magician Lord in the style of the band Falconer would be awesome.
...they may already have songs that are close, lol.

The Irritating Maze would be interesting.

Hmmm... Falconer.  Never heard them.  Listening now.  Nice.  Power Metal... Folk Metal... what other genres would apply in your opinion?

Hell,  lets do this here in the thread...

First step:  Being I have very little experience with Magician Lord,  perhaps someone with more experience can assist me?  Otherwise I'll go bone up on the game via youtube, etc. so I can go through this for accuracy....

[Verse I]
In the ruins of ancient Arcadia,
Where the moon bleeds silver flame,
Darkness stirs in the tomb of Gal Agiese,
A tyrant reborn without shame.
Seven tomes of forbidden power,
Scattered through cursed domains,
Elta awakens, last Magician Lord,
To purge the world of chains!

[Pre-Chorus]
Through catacombs and haunted halls,
He walks where shadows scream—
A sorcerer forged in pixel fire,
Bound to a dying dream!

Chorus]
Arcane rebirth!
Elta ascends with wrath unchained!
Through beast and flame,
He strikes with magic arcane!
Transform, transcend!
Dragon, Shinobi, and flame-born fiend!
The Magician Lord returns—
To crush the demon’s scheme!

[Verse II]
From man to beast, the glyphs ignite,
A dragon’s breath, a samurai’s blade,
A water elemental’s icy spite,
A shadow form in midnight shade.
Each realm a trial, each boss a curse,
From Hydra’s maw to Golem’s roar,
He casts his fate in runic verse,
And shatters every lore!

[Pre-Chorus]
Through towers tall and lava seas,
He fights with spell and steel—
A warrior-mage of neon wrath,
Arcadia’s last ordeal!

[Chorus]
Arcane rebirth!
Elta ascends with wrath unchained!
Through beast and flame,
He strikes with magic arcane!
Transform, transcend!
Dragon, Shinobi, and flame-born fiend!
The Magician Lord returns—
To crush the demon’s scheme!

[Bridge]
(Spoken in a growl, doom metal style)
“You are too late, Elta… the tomes are mine…”
But Elta stands, eyes blazing with divine fury.
“I am the seal. I am the flame. I am the end of your time.”
(Sung)
In the final chamber, blood-red skies,
Gal Agiese chants his blight—
But Elta, cloaked in spectral guise,
Unleashes holy light!

[Solo]

[Final Chorus]
Arcane rebirth!
Elta ascends with wrath unchained!
Through beast and flame,
He strikes with magic arcane!
Transform, transcend!
Dragon, Shinobi, and flame-born fiend!
The Magician Lord returns—
To crush the demon’s scheme!

[Outro]
The tomes reclaimed, the evil slain,
Arcadia breathes once more—
But deep beneath the pixel plane,
A darker god keeps score…

Worthy lyrics?  Any change?   Lemme know...

I don't have all that much experience with Magician Lord either.  It's one of those games that I thought would be cool to play all the way through, but never got around to it.  I'd be referring to the manual and YouTube videos same as you.

As for other genres, depends on the game.

Annoying Maze mentioned earlier is asking for techno dance/house.

(edit: mentioned below I can imagine a Polybius song in the style of Monster Magnet)

The style of Alestorm would be fun, but if you made it for a game like Deadstorm Pirates then I guess you'd just have an Alestorm song.

Stan Bush wrote a ton of the upbeat positive training montage music from the 80's and 90's.  It's corny and great.  An arcade game related song in that style would be hilarious.  The more serious it is taken, the funnier it will be.  Not sure what game is deserving.

I will scroll through my gamelists today and see if anything worthy of a song jumps out at me.

On a related note, RadioBob! is an awesome internet radio network for rock music out of Germany.  No ads.  Occasional station ID.  I have some of the stations added to my streaming apps of choice, but you can also listen on  their website https://www.radiobob.de/  (any links I try to post to other pages end up on that main page)
Don't bother with the national livestream.  Click streams in the middle, then scroll down to other streams.   I mainly listen to the Stoner Rock channel, but I don't think that genre is all that great for arcade lyrics.  ....'cept maybe a trippy weird Polybius song.  Mittelalter Rock is middle ages rock.

If you're looking for a Polybius song,  I've already did it... twice.

My last project... Arcade Obsession/Arcade Aggression.  16 songs... same lyrics... one mainstream/new wave the other 1980's metal/thrash...

Here are both versions:

(Unfortunately I can't embed the player here)

Mainstream Version (From the ARCADE OBSESSION Album):

POLYBIUS - THE GAME OF DREAD

80's Metal Version (From the ARCADE AGGRESSION Album):

POLYBIUS - THE GAME OF DREAD

Oh... and here is the only lyrics videos I did for that project... wait for the chorus and give it a watch.  If you're familiar with the whole DK/BM issue you'll get a kick out of it...

Scrolled through my gamelists and came up with the following:

In the style of Stan Bush (80's training montage style.  Quite a few of the first albums songs are fairly close to this style)...
Caveman Ninja
Metal Slug
Any fighting tournament game.  King of Fighters and Fatal Fury if you do the Neo Geo project.
Punch Out could be fun.

Medieval Rock or more "folk metal"...
Rastan
Golden Axe

Old school classic Country/Western (not a genre I typically like, but I can tolerate the older stuff).
Sunset Riders

Other games where I think the song would be interesting, but not sure which genre would work best:

Puzzle Bobble/Bust-A-Move (for the Neo Geo project)
Space Harrier
Strider
Qbert
Chicken Shift

Just throwing ideas out there if you want them.  Use/don't use whatever and make them whatever genre you enjoy making.

OK... lets go through the AI lyrics...  I am using an SNK Wiki for answers... (https://snk.fandom.com/wiki/Magician_Lord)

I will indicate removed lyrics with red and added lyrics with green...

[Verse I]
In the ruins of ancient Arcadia Gadasius,
Where the moon bleeds silver flame,
Darkness stirs in the tomb of Gal Agiese,
A tyrant reborn without shame.
Seven Eight tomes of forbidden power,
Scattered through cursed domains,

[Outro]

OK... that wasn't bad at all.. AI got quite a bit right actually.   Let me put together something with these modified lyrics when I have time.

Maybe something... live.

...and how do you like this?

Also,  I'm working on an Irritating Maze tune... just can't do Techno very well... I don't have the ear for it because,  well,  I don't much care for it.  :(

I also put together a country tune for Sunset Riders but I'm not happy with it enough yet.  Old School country.

;)

I think it's pretty epic.

If you want to stick with metal, Industrial Metal could work for Irritating Maze IMO.
