Megatouch Force 2002
« on: Yesterday at 12:57:15 pm »
I was lucky enough to get my hands on a Megatouch force 2002.  It seems all original and works (mostly)  I do have some questions maybe you can all help with.

1. I plan on replacing fans (case and otherwise) thermal paste an give it a good cleaning.  Is there other things you would suggest to get a longer life out of it?
2. Ive read about going keyless.....buit not sure i understand what it actually is or how to do it.  can you explain this to me?   maybe give me links of where to start if i decide to go that route?
3.  I have noticed some games just wont let me record a High Score.  Once I get the high score and its about to send me to the screen where i enter my name, it reboots.  Unfortunatly i will never haold the high score on Hoop Jones.  There is maybe one other game that does it.  I would love to keep the scores from the previous owner as it gives me something to reach for.  Is there anyway i can fix this without a drastic measure like reinstalling etc. ?

Thank you all in advance.

1 - replace hard drive with SSD
2 - keyless is fine if you want to get your machine running as cheaply as possible....longevity wise I've seen a disproportionate amount of hard drive failure with the keyless drives, but I partly blame that on the cheap Chinese knock off brands they are usually sold on. I've personally used the keyless Force 2011 and so have others I've talked to, and we all have occasional problems like crashing mid-game, high scores not saving, etc. There are several security checks that are not patched out on the version being sold on eBay right now. In my games, I have keys in all of them
3 - could be corruption or bad hard drive, or even bad RAM.  your machine is from 2002 so who knows, these old tired Force boards are all nearing the end of their lives also
