wells gardner vga output to dvi-d computer input booster?
« on: September 11, 2025, 05:18:31 pm »
Been a long while since posting here and not really sure what to search for thats similar to my problem so apologys in advance.

After a move fron California to Oregon, My Wells Gardner monitor has started acting up.
it no longer receives enough signal from my computer to fire up.

If i plug in an hdmi tv at the same time as the monitor i can get to display settings and press force detect the Wells and eventually after multiple force detects will fire up as an extended display. 800x600 60hz
So for the monitor its using dvi-d out on the computer end, vga at the monitor end (cable only no converters im aware of other than the dvi-d to vga male ends).
Computer Alienware X51 R2 Gaming System Computer, Nvidia graphics card, 2 display port inputs (dont work with Wells, 1 dvi-d and 1 hdmi)

If I then unplug the hdmi cable to the tv i lose the wells gardner dvi-e to vga signal completely (no signal) on monitor. If i plug it back in it may comeback outright or i may have to force detect it again.

I dont know if its moving is related but i used to be able to boot just fine into the Wells alone.
I have to dig (if needed) and find a label for exact model # of the wells but its 27 or 29" crt which came with an old x-arcade model cab. (i got it new round 2005-ish)

"active VGA to DVI-D converter"

could this be the solution to perhaps either boost or make more compatble, the signal from the monitor?
what model would work best? (id like to keep at least 1 testicle)
or
what else could i do?
or
what am i doing wrong?

Hopes and Thanks
