This is an original Sega/Gremlin arcade cabinet I have owned for over 25 years. It’s in working condition and fully playable. Known issues are listed below. The installed game, Cabal (Fabtek 1988), is a simultaneous two-player game with trackballs and mirrored control buttons. Included is the operator’s manual for the Cabal board. This cabinet originally held a Zaxxon board (not included) and control panel (redrilled). The CRT was sourced from a Joust cabinet, as it shows faint burn-in when displaying lighter-colored backgrounds. The marquee light is nonfunctional, but the fluorescent bulb was replaced (new); I suspect a wiring disconnect somewhere, but I never ran it down. No water damage, no structural damage.
Known issues:
- Left coin acceptor is nonfunctional; suspect a power/wiring issue.
- Marquee light is nonfunctional.
- Keys to front and back locks are missing, but easy to open with a small flat-head screwdriver.
- Player 2 grenade buttons (left and right), player 1 right grenade button, and player 2 left fire button are intermittent; suspect the microswitches need cleaning or replacing.
I bought this game as Cabal was always one of my favorites to play in the arcade, and it’s been fun to introduce to friends and the next generation of arcaders. I held on to the hope that I would recondition it and return it to an original Zaxxon (also one of my favorites), but now I think it’s time to let someone else have next play.
