RetroFE and screen orientation
« on: June 14, 2025, 06:24:45 pm »
Looking for a little help with a RetroFE config problem. I'm trying to configure a Dell miniPC (win10) for a vertical monitor setup using a Coinops vertical release.
I rotated the monitor and changed Win10 to portait mode, desktop looks fine.
I open the frontend (based on RetroFE) and it displays sideways in horizontal mode.
Editing the global settings.conf file per the online instructions to set screen rotation seems to be simply ignored by RetroFE. Doesn't matter what rotation I set, nothing changes.

To make it work, I'm forced to set rotation using the Win 10 display properties and change it in Windows to "landscape (flipped)" which makes tweaking other configs awkward to say the least with the Windows desktop flipped sideways.

Is there an easy fix for this?

Hi. Went there myself. Used CoinOps Arcadia Vertical 4:3 and had this same issue.
On CoinOps frontend, decide if you're going to use 90 degrees or 270 degrees instead.
On Windows 10, leave as it is. Considering you will have it as a dedicated Pc for Vertical titles,
just decide CoinOps to boot on startup and wait a few seconds.

Other than that,  shelling could also work. but on changing Win10 to vertical settings simply will mess everything up.
BTW, I've edited this build to my likings. Added features the creators of CoinOps said it would be impossible in old releases,
such as info database like year of release, dev/manufacturer, number of players and so on.
