MAME/IPAC Problem
« on: March 07, 2004, 01:27:45 am »
I'm not sure if anyone here can help me with this but here it goes: I have a MAME cabinet (running version 77) with the controls being wired to an IPAC. For months I have had no problems but recently the controls have quit working on a few of my games. Now I have double-checked the wiring and there is nothing wrong with it. Some games work great but others (well over 100) act like there is no controls assigned to them. Sometimes I pause the game, re-assign the controls, and reset the game to see if that helps but there is no change. Has anyone else had this problem?? Is this an error in this version of MAME??

Pausing and remapping in-game can cause some trouble.  If you want to remap while the rom is loaded don't pause.  Or better yet configure the controls using ctrlr ini files which are much more reliable than individual game cfg files.

when running a game where you encounter the problem - exit from it and check in the cfg folder - delete the game cfg if it is there and run it again.  Hope it helps.

Cheers
