Do each of these steps in this order. Do not proceed to the next step until the current one is done correctly.
1. When you're in Windows and you turn the wheels, does the cursor move smoothly and at a decent rate?
- If no, the problem is probably with your optos/encoder wheel. How far do you have to turn the wheel to move the height/width of the Windows cursor?
- If it works well in Windows, the problem is with your MAME setup.
2. What version of MAME are you running?
- If you're still running v0.92, you need to upgrade to v0.104u5 or newer for multimouse support.
- If you aren't sure which version your system can handle, post your CPU type/speed.
3. Generate a mame.ini file after upgrading to the newer version of MAME.
- That file is not automatically generated during install.
4. Edit the mame.ini file to enable mouse and multimouse.
5. Remap the controls in MAME and adjust sensitivity. Default mappings/sensitivity for wheels/pedals probably won't work well.
- You'll also want to change "deadzone" in mame.ini from "0.3" (30%) to "0.05". (5%)
