Just got a GRS Flight Yoke and I'm trying to install it in Windows so that I can finally play S.T.U.N. Runner.
When I plug it in via USB and open Devices and Printers, the device does not appear.
If I hold in the power button on the Flight Yoke while it's plugged in, I hear the Windows "You just connected something" sound and it appears in Devices and Printers as "BL Flight Yoke #1." At that point, I can move the yoke and see the cursor move on the screen. Hooray!
But once I take my finger off of the power button, BL Flight Yoke #1 disappears from the Devices and Printers screen after 5-10 seconds and I hear the Windows "You just disconnected a device" sound.
I haven't figured out how to get it to show up as a device in Windows and stay there.
I've tried this on two different machines, with one running Windows 7 and one running Windows 10. I get the same result with either machine.
I don't imagine I'm supposed to hold down the power button the entire time I'm using this thing, though at the moment, that's the only way to keep it connected.
Anyone have any ideas about this? The instruction manual is a bit...vague.
EDIT: I received a response from the manufacturer who suggested that I might have an issue with the power button. I mucked with it for an hour yesterday and while I could depress the power button, I never could get it to click and lock into place.
This morning, I turned on the machine, plugged the yoke into the USB port, and pressed the power button. It went "click," locked into place, and the device appeared as "BL Flight Yoke #1" in Devices and Printers.
I was then able to load Mame and play a game with the controller. It's working fine, and I have no idea why the button wouldn't properly engage yesterday.
Hats off the manufacturer; they responded to email at 11 PM Mountain Time.
All good.
