Is there such a joystick??
« on: March 03, 2004, 09:51:19 am »
I'm looking to get a top mounted firing button joystick.  And I'm wondering if there is a dual 8/4 top mounted firing button joystick out there?  Similar to the T-Slik plus. In that I can switch from 4 to 8 ways instantly.

As I don't think there is... but I just want to double check.

As Happ only carries either a 4 or 8 way... but not both.  And I was planning on getting 8 way with a Oscar 4 way restictor... but oscar isn't selling them anymore.

Thanks

You're right, there isn't one out there... but if you notice, there is a thread open about the restrictor plate, send a note to Oscar stating you are interested, he just posted stating that he may make more soon if there are enough people who want them.

I don't know of one.  You could get a Prodigy joystick from www.groovygamegear.com, or one of the E- T- or J- switchable sticks from www.ultimarc.com, and then hack a PC triggerstick handle to the joystick shaft, as others have done in the past.

BTW, unless this will be a single joystick for all games (i.e. you want to play Pac-Man with it), I don't know of any games that NEEDED a 4-way trigger stick.  Assault used them and BattleZone had them, but I don't think you would have problems playing these with an 8-way, FWIW.

Hmm.. any instructions how to add a trigger handle to a J-Stik.

As I'm planning on adding 2 joysticks for player 1 & 2 so I can play Karate Champ.  And since I'm adding 2 additional joysticks, I thought I might as well make them a top mount button joystick.  So I can play battlezone as well.

It appears Oscar is going to to another run of joystick restrictors.  So I'm probably going to go that route.  Get 2 -8way top fire joysticks and 2 4 way restrictors.

Thanks
