TrackBall Issue
« on: January 18, 2023, 07:48:01 pm »
I just bought an Atari Fightstick and had it loaded with thousands of games. Just to give you a breakdown it is running on a Raspberry Pi, it is running Emulation Station, and I believe the arcade games are MAME. (I dont know much about this stuff). That being said, the arcade games list includes like 6 different Golden Tees up to like 2k and I think 3D and all the ones before. All of them use joystick except one that says trackball but its the oldest. How do I get the trackball to work with the others that are only using joysticks? Same thing goes for Centipede, Marble Madness, etc. Gotta be a way to fix this. I have a keyboard and know how to get into controls but dont wanna touch anything since I have no idea what Im doing. Any help would be amazing. Trying to get this fixed before this weekend as I have friends coming over. Thanks for the help.

These Atari Fightsticks are pretty common so it seems like there should be someone somewhere who has the answer.

I assume you already looked at the one game that works with trackball and compared the mappings in the "MAME -- Input (this game)" menu to the games where trackball isn't working.
- Axis should be mapped to mouse
- All INC and DEC should be mapped to none. (these inputs are used to make the joystick simulate the trackball)

Worst case, you might need to change a game dipswitch (TAB menu) or go into the game's internal menu. (F2)

Maybe you can find something searching Google/YouTube keywords like "atari fightstick trackball setup"?   :dunno

Thank you for answering. When I change these am I going into the Mame or raspberry pi, or just using tab inside the game? I am not versed in this and I havent found much on youtube that has worked as I have tried. I know how to tab and go in game to the menu, but I dont know how to go into the pi and inside of mame to change anything so how do I do that if thats what you are telling me I need to do? Thank you for your help.

I know how to tab and go in game to the menu
That's what I was referring to.  You're on the right path.
