Well, good luck with the medium resolution monitor (you might want to resell that or try to trade it for a standard res one).

I would just wire up whatever controls it already has.

You could sell it to a collector and buy something simpler!
Are you gonna mametize a virtua on 2 in great state to keep...  :-X

1- The cabinet is a sit-down one, that means that you don't have a choice playing it, you have to sit down!  :-\

2- The CP is "unique", when removed, the new one it will look kinda ackward for that kinda cab!

3- The medium res. monitor will give you and huge headache to interact with a graphics card and mame games!

I think that this reasons are almost enough to "preserve" that treasure but you're the boss, go ahead good luck! :-\

I'm of the opinion that Mame probably isnt your best choice for this game. IMHO that pretty much leaves you with two options:

1) Try restore it. I.E. get original boards/chips/ect. If you want to keep it.

2) sell it to somone who wants to restor it, and get something less complexe.

That said, if you already had a mame cab, doing a restoration could be fun, depending on what original parts are included (sorry I just skimmed the description).

I personally would have a tough time hacking up any specialty cab for mame. But thats just me.
Isn't an anarchist party counter intuitive?

The only thing i can think of, as far as MAME, would be to use swappable control panels. Make them pretty much just like the design of the current one, but with different controls. One with steering wheel and shifter, one with star wars yoke, one with a joystick/spinner/trackball.

Otherwise, i dunno. Unless you want to make it just a Driving game MAME machine.  8)

Virtual on is a much sought after and much loved game by many!
id personally recomend cleaning it up really nice. replacing any bad parts and reselling for a profit to a true VO fan and use the profit to build a more suitable MAME machine.

not to mention a standard control panel will be a problem.
the control panel is pretty far away from you in a sitting position. normal controls straight on like that are gonna be a real neck and back breaker. typically you stand over your controls with your arms facing down twords the ground slightly forward.in this configuration your arms are going to be sticking straight out, not very comforatable at all.

if you MAMEd that cab youd be just making a monster, its a sit down first off so unless you wanna make a driving MAME its gonna be weird sitting in there with a joystick, not to mention you cant play 2 player games. definately restore it virtua on rules, you could even stick a DC in there if u cant find the real boards and play that way

My thoughts exactly. A few swappable control panels and that would be a seriously cool MAME cab. I'd MAME away if it were mine.

I was never one for the "Don't MAME IT!!!" debate, but oof that's a nice cab!  Personally, I'd restore it an play it.  That game friggin rocks.  And sit down cabs are worth some decent $$$$.. You'd make a huge profit restoring it.. then you'd have all the $$$ you need to build one, or hell, multiple mame cabinets.

I believe that that cab is only half of a dual set-- IE there should be a cab just like it sitting on the left fastened together by some stove bolts (green instead of pink). I don't think half of a set will ever be a valuable commodity to a collector or anyone else. MAME it and be creative.

I would totally restore that game!!  It's an awesome game..

Sell it if you're not planning on restoring it, but MAMEing it would be more of a pain than anything else...

How so? Doesn't seem like there would be any more to MAMEing it than there would be to a stand up cab.

I got two of them. As for the monitor I am pretty sure you can change it to standard res so that isnt a problem.

It would be sweet to put a computer in and load it up with all the sweetest racing games.  :)

Mine currently have sega rally boards and I am looking to drop to computers and play racing pc games via lan

I think thats a great cab , i would mame it , but restoring it could make you more money to buy a better one ,having half of a set could  be more valuable  to a collector if they only have one also. there has to be a few that aren't in sets it's almost ten years old , lots of things happen to big sit down cabs in ten years

The reason I could not turn it down was; one, a real big monitor..and two, a coin door. It's also got the full Jamma harness. All of that comes to a lot more than the 200 bucks I paid. The control panel is held in with 4-5 bolts across the top and a few along the bottom. Totally removable. The Chair is adjustable like a car seat. I'm going to have to make a lot of space in the old garage to store it though. I am going to get a Cheep LCD that I can mount on the side for windows and just switch to the monitor to play...I just got to figure it out  ;D

I am still planning my main MAME CAB...Its been in the works for a LOONG time...but it will be a standard upright with a spinner and a trackball....

if your looking to turn a profit i'd spend the time to convert it to a Steel Battalion setup. This game is going to be huge and you could seriously make a big profit off of it with that cabinet. You'd have to invest a little bit, xbox and the Steel Battalion setup pictured below which is valued at $200 (USD) but compared to a mame setup it's actually cheaper. The best part is you have a good 2 months to get this thing together and built before the game even comes out, if you catch the game at it's peek then i'm sure you could pull in a very nice return.

looks like you got a good deal but a word of caution about dealing with house of arcades. he ripped me off for some side art. i sold him a simpsons game and everything went ok and when i was at his house i asked him if he had any street fighter II ce side art and he said no. the next day i get an email from him saying that he found a set in his garage and he wanted $35 for it. so i paypal him and a week later i get a tube in the mail and it has two horrible zerox copies of the sideart in black and white with all the corners cut off. i email him and ask what the hell this stuff is and where's my side art.he tells me his partner must have messed up and sent the wrong thing.i later found out he doesn't have a partner. he told me he would paypal me back the $35 and never did as well as never return another email. he has a bad rep. on rgvac as well. dont pay him in advance pay him when you pick it up.

ThanX for the warning....I already paid him though.. I am picking it up this weekend, so I'll see how it goes...Its amazing how small the arcade community really is. Make a mistake and someone will remember you.

Virtual on the a wikkid game. and if i remember correctly it came as a pair but was fully playable solo. if you can get all the boards to fix it back up just hack a dreamcast into it, you can even link 2 dreamcast together with this game for fully arcade compatable play.

im jealous, itsa great game.
