Robotron in DOS advancemame, any veterans that can help?
« on: December 16, 2022, 02:36:16 am »
Before you roast me, i found an old pc that natively has 15khz video settings if you use it with advancemame in DOS, there was an old installer "bkst" that made things easyer, the hardest part back in the day, was to burn the gosth image as it took ages to get burned. Anyway, i manage to get DOS and the bkst thing working.

BUt im not here for that, what im trying to achieve here is to use this for a dedicated robotron, with what i have. RGB moded tv, 15khz ready pc with sneskey9 ready to use pc to jamma board, so all fits. The only thing that dont really fits its i cant get robotron to look as nice as it should.

and it looks like advancemame just has a few modlines

Code: [Select]
device_video_modeline ntsc_640x242 13.5942 640 712 760 864 242 253 256 267 -hsync -vsync
device_video_modeline standard_640x480 13.5821 640 704 768 864 480 486 493 524 -hsync -vsync interlace
device_video_modeline ntsc_small_608x456 12.839 608 672 728 816 456 484 490 530 -hsync -vsync interlace
device_video_modeline ntsc_512x384 10.825 512 576 616 688 384 440 446 523 -hsync -vsync interlace
device_video_modeline ntsc_400x300 8.43341 400 448 488 536 300 397 403 515 -hsync -vsync interlace
device_video_modeline ntsc_640x242 13.5942 640 712 760 864 242 253 256 267 -hsync -vsync
device_video_modeline ntsc_320x242 6.67122 320 368 392 424 242 250 253 267 -hsync -vsync
device_video_modeline standard_320x240 6.79104 320 368 400 432 240 250 253 267 -hsync -vsync
//device_video_modeline ntsc_320x240 6.79709 320 368 392 432 240 250 253 267 -hsync -vsync
device_video_modeline ntsc_small_horz_608x228 13.0907 608 680 736 832 228 238 241 262 -hsync -vsync
device_video_modeline ntsc_small_304x228 6.41947 304 352 376 408 228 243 246 267 -hsync -vsync
device_video_modeline standard_vga_320x200 7.074 320 360 394 450 200 223 226 257 -hsync -vsync
so i was wondering if someone here, would be kind enough to enlight me with the correct modeline to make robotron look nice.
My monitor its an rgb moded tv.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, according to http://adb.arcadeitalia.net/dettaglio_mame.php?game_name=robotron, the correct resolution is 292x240. So either you manage to install this resolution or use 320x240 with no magnify, no resize at all then adjust your monitor to remove the black sides out of the screen ?

you can try a resolution that is a multiple of 292, if advancemame has integer scale option or keep aspect ratio, like 584x240 or 876x240
