Crtemudriver without test mode?
« on: March 21, 2022, 12:39:54 am »
I use my daily PC to power my arcade setup, is there anyway around crtemudriver test mode? Otherwise I have to reinstall it literally everyday due to games with easy anti cheat.

For GM on my daily PC I simply added some essential super-resolutions with VMM. I did not install CRT_emudriver so no need for TEST mode.

What GPU, driver and Windows version are you using?

I'm trying to do the same, but VMM is rejecting super-resolutions, other than 2560x480.

I don't *think* so. Test-signing allows you to install drivers that don't have an official digital certificate. And Calamity is not able to obtain one of those for his version (i.e. for crt_emudriver) because that's for big companies and costs money and time.

I do wonder if at some point AMD themselves will get on board. They were certainly willing to talk to the Supermodel devs, though not to do much about the ~legacy issue involved.

Nope.
Is there something preventing you from having another box?

Used PCs that will run most everything are typically so cheap why not just have a dedicated unit?
Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools! I can fix it.

This is possible because the HD 4000 family uses the ancient driver interface that didn't have a low resolution check. With newer cards, you can't add low resolution on stock drivers (unless you use this method).

Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

Very interesting.

Which series was the last to use that "ancient driver", 4000? 5000? Do we have a list?

I'd like to know which model to buy, preferably the most powerful that also has that driver interface so I could use super-resolutions without the need of restarting in Test Mode, and if I don't find a good offer, look for the one below it, and so on.

Also apologies for necroposting, just thought the answer would be useful for peopel who are in the same boat as me.
