Good quality tiny & cheap Coin/Start button options?
« on: February 23, 2022, 06:25:13 pm »
Looking for small and cheap (but good) Coin/Start buttons.  Do not want the large standard arcade button footprint for these crappy but necessary function buttons.  Found these, any opinions?

https://www.arcadeshop.com/i/1307/push-button-momentary.htm
https://www.arcadeshop.com/i/587/push-button-midway-cocktail-start-red.htm

Can anyone validate these, or provide any other good options out there I haven't found yet?

These will work fine but they are springy and not clicky like a regular push button and are a bit harder to press.

Focus Attack sells 24mm buttons which are larger than these but noticeably smaller than a standard button.  You can get them convex too so they differ from the happs or whatever.

There are a number of great 24mm buttons, but if you want something even smaller, look into the Sanwa SDM-20 (20mm) or SDM-18. (18mm)
- The downside is that they are both snap-in style buttons.   :-\

Focus Attack carries red and white SDM-18s.

Paradise Arcade Shop carries red, white, and black SDM-18s and red, white, blue, green, and yellow SDM-20s.

SDM-20

SDM-18

I picked up some 24mm buttons from adafruit: https://www.adafruit.com/?q=24mm+arcade&sort=BestMatch Nice match for the standard 30mm fire buttons that light up. Comes in like 5 different colors. Just grab some custom button graphics from slammedness and you are set.

EDIT: Here is what they looked like (top buttons) on one of the (Arcade1Up) control panels I made with them, the top are 24mm, bottom white buttons are all 30mm. You'll see 7 24mm buttons on top along with a volume knob and a 16mm push button for power.
