Little Elf Jamma Harnass Wiring not working
« on: February 18, 2022, 05:11:46 am »
TIA - I have a Rocky Little Elf box I am trying to get up an running. The Player 2 Medium Kick and Heavy kick buttons do not seem to be working. After testing/swapping other working button wires to these two. I concluded that either the 2 individual wires were faulty OR the harbnass connection between the wire and the PCB was. I ended up pulling one of the wires from the harness side (not sure how I'm going to get it back now. Solder or see if i can buy replacement wires?). Tried using the wire for other working buttons by just touching contacts. I didn't have any luck. So, i further concluded teh wire may be faulty and cut it down to a 3rd in length to try before digging through the shed for a different piece of wire. No luck when i touch the harness metal contact. But when I touch it under and directly on the PCB board and run the IO Test. The button will turn yellow on the test screen instead of RED. I used the same wire/process on the Medium Kick button and teh same result. So, i am thinking the harness connection onto the PCB board is not making contact and/or teh wires need replacing. BUt then, I'm not sure why I only get a Yellow light on the IO test screen or what my next steps should be? Is it yellow because there was no contact to the board buttons when the Little elf was powered on? All other buttons seem to work somehwat and turning teh IO Test to solid red and remained Red. I say somewhat as several initially didn't work, but after some pressure on teh harness wires/connectors to the pcb board, they did. Just these remaining 2 did not. I'm hoping to avoid having to buy a new harness and reconnect everying again as I've soldered some extra Ground wires in for LED lights on teh buttons. I did all of this  2years ago, gave up trouble shooting and put it in the shed till now. Any recommendations / suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The pics attached don't show the Yellow confirmation on the IO test as I needed a 3rd hand. Thank you!
