Ultimarc = Great customer service
« on: February 26, 2004, 12:25:44 pm »
I just wanted to pubically thank Andy at Ultimarc.

I ordered some joysticks from him and had some problems installing them. I mistakenly thought the problem was with the joysticks, but eventually realized it was my fault.

Throughout it all, Andy answered emails very promptly and even quickly sent me new parts at no cost.

If only all business were run with this kind of attention to customer service.

Thanks Andy.

Is it that the sticks don't fit a standard joystick mounting configuration? I just wanted to pop the new sticks into the original mount on my panels, but the mounting plate on the sticks are too narrow. I DON'T want to drill holes in my original Pac-Man panel and I have been brainstorming ideas on how to do so.

Did you get an alternative mount from Andy?

Great thing about Andy is how much easier he makes all our lives with products like the I/J-PAC and the ArcadeVGA!

No, the problem was two-fold. I had originally orderd the T-Stik Plus teardrops, and then realized I needed the longer sticks so I bought the ball-tops. However, I orderd them right at the time his switching mechanisms were changing, so he had to send out the conversion kit.

After that it was a matter of me not getting the nut to fit on the end of the stick and thinking it was the wrong size...only to realize it was just a tight fit.

Well..

He sent out a new resister and chips to fix it up free of charge... no shipping... nothing

and you don't get more responsible for blowning a card then !@# up the power...

Andy once responded to one of my posts here with an Email from an Internet Cafe (or something like it) while he was on vacation in Thailand.

Personally, I've never seen such customer service and as a result, Ultimarc has a customer for life now.

There is no question that Andy is one of the good guys.  He has and will stand behind everything he makes.  In my very humble opinion, Andy and Kelsey are two of the best people I've 'met' in almost any kind of business, and I meet people all day every day.  If only all internet businesses were run by guys like them, this world would be a better place...

Okay, off my soapbox now...

I've said it before and I'll say it again. There are a few people in this business that provide great customer service and support and ultimately make this all more enjoyable for everyone. Hats off to (but not limited to) Andy (Ultimarc), Kelsey (Oscar Controls), Bob Roberts (therealbobroberts) and Peter, whose tireless effort to improve the Emulaxian front end is worth far more than this mention could offer.

AMEN!  Andy is a buyers dream.  I once ordered an E-Stik and he accidently shipped out a T-Stik.  When I emailed him, he immediately sent out an e-stik, free of charge!  Also, when I noticed my opti-pac was having troubles with the mouse buttons, he sent out a replacement chip- again free of charge.

Anyone interested in building arcade controls MUST visit ultimarc.com at least once.  Excellent products, great shipping time, superb customer service, and a great guy from merry old England.  What more could you want!?
