Looks like you have an idea what you want, but I doubt anyone will have ready-to-use plans for it.

You can use the "What type of build meets my needs?" design process in the FAQ, button layouts from slagcoin, and cardboard/hardboard mockups to work out the dimensions and ergonomics for a slim pedestal like that.

Be sure to allow room for all of the system components and plan ahead for maintenance.

You can get joysticks those without the stand for under $200 shipped.  Then you slap it on a small table and you’re done.

Like Jim said just find the CP and then build a base for it.

I try to learn from my mistakes so I'm a big proponent of prototyping and following a "think & test first, spend second" mantra.

So I'd suggest before starting the project you ask yourself some questions, e.g.:
  • What do you like about the cabinet you're lusting after?  Is there anything you dislike?  You might want to look at other pedestal style cabinets & project build threads for more ideas and pros & cons.
  • Do you have the space for a pedestal cabinet including mounting a big screen TV at standing eye level?  Make a cardboard prototype and try it out.
  • Do you have the tools and skills required to build the cabinet?  Again, check the project build threads for what kinds of tools people use.  If you don't have the tools - add them to the cost of the project.
  • Do you have an existing computer, monitor / TV, controls, etc which you plan on using?  See how much you can do without spending anything (or spending as little as possible).
  • How much Time, Money and Effort are you willing to put into the project?
MAME Projects % completed:
2004 3 sided cocktail cabinet w/ modular CP <25% (discarded)
2004 Tempest cabinet & CP > 75% (sold)
2017 Raspberry Pi Zero W w/ Lakka microconsole 50%
2021 Vertical Bartop - in progress > 80%, 100% functional (sleeping)
