60 in 1 jamma game board not booting
« on: August 17, 2021, 07:39:17 am »
So I just wanted to post something that might help someone else. Seems there’s little results on the internet. Maybe these things just work for most people and that’s why? I recently acquired a set up and it worked once but then not again. I went looking on the internet for help on the topic. Trying to find info on the leds to understand the issue it might be having etc. the fancy power supply was the last thing I suspected but it was actually the 5v that was way out of spec. A crudely wired up 5v USB phone charger providing the 5v did the trick. What I can tell you is the brief red led I suspect is the board protecting itself (I was getting closer to 7v even with the adjuster turned down to lowest setting) and that there should be a steady green flash when it’s happy.

You have it connected to 12V.

Yeah, Mike’s right. That’s probably your original issue.

Also, you're living life on the edge by not connecting your Frame Ground to the green wire of your AC power cord.

Please have a look at this before something worse than just frying that board occurs.

http://therealbobroberts.net/acwiring.html

If you use a legit JAMMA harness it should have a +5V lead, which would be red.
Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools! I can fix it.

I interpreted the pictures to be the 'after' shot, confusing though it may be. The LEDs are green, and the red wire is no longer attached to the arcade supply (being that the post says it's connected to a phone charger)

One has to wonder why the power supply is there at all now, but that's a question for another day.

It does seem like the post is missing half of the story, like the initial symptoms, "Solved" and "Red LED" in the subject...
