Arcade Player 1 and Player 2 Switched

Heya all,

My son and I just finished customizing our Arcade1Up Street Fighter cabinet. We went with Hyperspin and managed to get everything working...Mame, Daphne, Atari, etc. We even put in buttons on the side for pinball, which work 100%.

Attached to the computer, we had a 4-plug USB hub for all the plugs. Of course we grossly underestimated what we were going to plug in, and once everything was perfect (grrrr), we changed to a 7-plug USB hub.

This changed the right joystick and buttons to Joy 1, the coin/back/exit/etc buttons to Joy 2, and the left joystick and buttons to Joy 3.

Now it won't remember joystick settings, it'll fight between 1 and 2, and we can't figure out how to go back to Joy 1 being on the left. yes, we tried putting the USBs into opposite ports. This is horrible because it was working so well. We're VERY new at this; Any help would be MOST appreciated.

Seen this before on a settop project I made years ago.. using PS style usb pads.

basically what happens is windows will like to assign the first one it sees as pad 1, and so on.

even the hub has a hierarchy.. they're not equal.. you have port 1 2 3 4 etc

they're not always in logical order either.. the hub I used ended up being something like 1 3 2 4

Just swap p1 and p2 pads on the hub, and either unplug/plug back in or restart.. hopefully that fixes it.

mark the hub so you always know which ports to plug the pads into.

if you want to really map it out you could get more pads and fill all the ports to find out exactly what order all of them are.

the program hoopz linked to might fix it too, never used.

EDIT: I missed the last bit about you already swapping.

goto device manager and remove the pads, unplug the hub after you do this.. then plug it back in.. this is so the computer sees them all at the same time thru the hub.

them mark the ports and swap them.. hopefully that fixes it, if it doesn't try removing them again from device manager and unplug, plug back in the hub.

what version of windows are you using btw? I had this problem on win2k
