U360 Attract Mode Setup.

Im setting up my control panel temporarily using a U360.Ill be swapping it out for a Servostik eventually.But in the meantime,I havent drilled my Panel yet as Im waiting on delivery of my CPO,
so Im just trying to make sure I have a correct understanding of this stick and software.

If someone could confirm Im on the right track,that would be great.

In Attract Mode enable the U360 plugin,and adjust paths to the location of the Ultramap exe and maps.

Run Ultramap software and set the default mode for the stik.

In MAME.ini set joystick_map AUTO.

Now am i right thinking that MAME is now choosing which map to use? It will automatically switch from 4-way to 8-way as per game requirements. Unless a game specific .ugc file is present in the maps directory.

Thanks for any pointers.There doesnt actually seem to be a step by step idiots guide anywhere that doesnt think we all want to know about Qbert.

Also is that actually the best option,letting MAME make the changes?
 Id read somewhere about naming custom maps by genre,but it didnt elaborate on how.
