Wheel issue with Mame / Front End
« on: March 21, 2021, 09:26:29 am »
Hoping someone can help here as I am at a total loss  :badmood:

I have a Logitech G920 wheel on my driving setup and have configured it with Mame as 180 degree, 50% sensitivity and 20% return to center for non feedback games. So here's the deal:

-Using MAME exe through emulator, wheel settings are fine, games play beautifully.

-Using BigBox FE with Mame exe setup in my profiles, as soon as the game starts (any game), the wheel completely goes limp and is so loose if I can use that term, that the games are barely playable as I have to turn the wheel all the way to make the vehicle turn and return wheel to center.

I'm spent 2 days on this and can't figure out what's causing this.

Any ideas fellows?

Thanks in advance.

Wheel profiles not coming up is a pain, and in my case it was just configuration issues in the frontend, things like time-to-run and more. I've had to use programs like autohotkey and other scripts. So, you trigger a game in the frontend, which actually launches an AHK exe that closes the front end and open the game, waits until the game window is no longer active (i/e tyhe game closes) then opens the frontend again.

Another thing you could try is using the frontend to launch default MAME and from the MAME menu's try to figure out what settings are active when you launch games?

It really sounds like a frontend question though. Do other games without force-feedback work as they should through the front end? Can you fake that to test it, if you need to? Have you tried asking on the bigbox FE site, or wherever that community is?

Thank you buttersoft. Appreciate your feedback.

As far as I can tell, this only seems to happen with Mame for some reason, though I have a separate Mame exe for Hard and Rave Driving as those games need specific settings in order to get the steering working properly and it works fine. All my other non Mame games work fine as well through the front end. Perhaps I'll take a stab at the Big Box forums. Just figured I would try here since the community is more active with driving setups than most I've seen.
