Does anyone know what this joystick is?  It looks nice to me.

I haven't seen one that looked like that.

It is confusing that they are calling it a "super" and that it's 8 and 4 way.

It's obvious that it is a balltop microswitch joystick.  But I can't tell if it's a wico, or happs, or IL, or sanwa, etc...

I just bought got one of these lots in the mail today and they appear quite similar, sans the metallic mounting. A lot more for your money.

J-stick is a Sanwa...perhaps these are just different models?
What was that again?

Pretty sure it's an Asahi/Seiko 8 way, they are excellent joysticks, very well constructed and good quality. Can be converted to 4 way permanently by turning the top restrictor through 45 degrees and redrilling screw holes.

I got them. Here's the breakdown:

Bad:
1) The spring-back action isn't as solid as you'd find with a competition or Pac-Man balltop, but it does go back. Not really an issue unless you're using this for hardcore gaming. But you're not.
2) There's a seam that runs across the middle of the ball. I guess after they make the mold they don't bother to clean that part up. Again, not really an issue. It's not too noticeable.
3) The drill holes differ from most jsticks. Had to redo some holes. Not a big deal.

Good:
1) Inexpensive
2) Looks good
3) Works good

This is the exact joystick I received:

Oh, and all the microswitches come with that extra prong over the actual switch... I forget what they're called. This poses a problem when using with vertical mount pushbuttons, but not horizontal. The buttons supplied are indeed horizontal, so again, not really an issue.

WOW! cost is $1.94 US? Those guys are making a killing at $9-10 a piece! Thats some insane markup!

We should buy 60 of them for $120, and spread them around the BYOAC folks!

anyway, thanks for the review... not so sure i really want these though.

They will be shipped from China via UPS express.  So shipping will cost at least $100 if not more.  So, still cheap, but not exactly $2.

I was looking at the rest of the coinop site and saw transparent pushbuttons are $0.18 a piece when bought in bulk. Microswitches were the same price. That's $0.36 for a button w/ switch. You could sell transparent buttons for about a buck a piece. That's a nice overhead.

Until you factor in shipping.
