Need help! X-arcade guts in a hotrod stick, won't run on PC
« on: March 04, 2021, 04:21:35 am »
Hi guys! New to the forum, dug my old stick out of the garage to try and get it to run on my PC but no dice so I figured I'd ask the pros. Here's what I have:
Hot Rod stick from @2000
Hanaho Hotrod Trimode upgrade kit (basically, an x-arcade harness that goes into the actual hotrod stick)
2in1 X-Adapter (plugs into serial out of the stick, has OG Xbox & USB plugs out the other end)

I am trying to get this all to run on my PC and unsure if it is possible. I followed all the directions to do so on their official page (https://support.xgaming.com/support/solutions/articles/12000003227) and it is showing up as an Xbox 360 Controller in the Game Controller Manager, but none of the buttons will have any response. Also tried testing with the java X-Arcade test program and it's not giving any feedback either.

Haven't tested it in about a year, but last time I plugged this thing into an OG Xbox it worked just fine. So I am assuming either it is some software issue, or I am just pushing things too much with this particular configuration. Let me know if anyone has any ideas - thank you!

The other USB is for the PS3.

You will need to install drivers for it to work, but there are issues.

Search for xarcade to ps/2 cable for it to work natively with the PC.

I tried the USB drivers but beyond the PC reading the device as a Playstation3 controller, I could never get it to see any joystick input or button presses. I Just received a PS/2 Male to Male cable today, and plugged that into the keyboard/mouse port on the back of the PC. Again, completely unresponsive. I got one of those little PS/2-USB converters as well and also tried that, but yes you guessed it, no dice. It sounds like I need to get an actual PS/2 keyboard and use this stick as a passthrough perhaps? Am I missing something?
