Decisions for new office game room

Looking for some advice. I'm working on a new office game room, with space for a 4P and a 2P cabinet.

We have been looking at DIY kits from RRM, GRS, and Monster.

We are software developers, can build PCS, etc so are fairly technically inclined. At the same time, if we are going to build instead of buy, we need to knock this out over a weekend or two. This can't become a long running hobbyist project.

I love the idea of Rec Room Master's xtension cabs which have the modular pre-built controller and are ready for a PC/Display. So we are going to grab their 2P emulator model. Unfortunately, their 4P control panel seems way too tight for 4 adults of various sizes. I assume most people here agree?

Looking for alternatives, I've been reading reviews of the 4P DIY kit from GRS and Monster which are much larger, and trying to figure out how challenging they'll be to wire up. I've started learning about buttons, joysticks, encoders/I-PACS, keyboard vs joy emulation, etc.

I realize this forum is full of enthusiasts, but is a 4 player cabinet build-out with the GRS or Monster DIY kit going to be really challenging for novices? Figuring out parts, wiring everything up correctly, etc. Can we expect to get this done in a weekend after watching some youtube videos?

When RRM says their xtension controller is "pre configured / plug and play" for MAME, is that just marketing speak? is there special sauce or is it just a standard setup with I-PAC, off the shelf buttons, joysticks, etc?

Reviews for the GRS and Monster DIY kits seem hit or miss. Are there other companies providing 4P DIY cabinets?

If a DIY 4P kit is too much of a time/frustration commitment, we are considering just getting a fully-built 4P unit to add to the extension RRM cab. If we went that route, any recommendations? Monster / Dreamcade / ArcadesRFun / DreamAuthentics / etc?
