Wanted: cheap set of Tamper Resistant Torx bits
« on: February 24, 2004, 01:10:58 am »
Can anyone direct me to a place to buy a cheap set of Tamper Resistant (aka security) Torx bits?  They're the ones with the hole in the end of the bit to fit over the peg in the center of the screw head.

My cab has a Capcom System II board screwed to the wall inside using these damn things.  I want to remove it.

I found a place online that has the bits but they want about $20 for a set.  I really don't want to spend that much on a tool that I'll probably never need to use again.

I'm not positive of the size so I want to buy a small set.  I think it's somewhere between a TR7 and a TR10 size.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Intel Core i7-4790K @ 4.8GHz

Security Torx Bits/Handle                            $7.00

If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

I bought mine at a local 'mom and pop' hardware store by my house.  They sold individual bits for about 60 cents.  The smaller hardware stores are great for this kind of stuff, places like Home Depot and Lowes never have it.

I bought a set at Lowes for about $8.
You'll have to look yourself though because most likely the workers have no idea what they are.

I just bought mine yesterday at wal-mart for $7.55 for a set of 4.
