best joysticks for smash tv?
« on: February 08, 2021, 08:30:05 pm »
Hello,
Anyone have an opinion on this?  I'm not concerned with authenticity, I want the best game play for smash tv (my highest priority game).
I was leaning towards (four) ultrastick 360s because this would allow for analog uses in the future.
Am I correct that the ultrastick 360 would allow for software switching between 4 and 8 way?  Is it possible to have game specific settings that would do this switch?
Apologies for my noobness, I'm just getting into this.
Thanks!
Wolfgang

Yes, ultra stick can be setup to auto switch between different “maps” 4-way 8-way etc for different games.
However, the throw is quite long and if you want to play non-analogue games with an authentic feel you really have to get the optional restrictor and stiff spring.
This then makes playing analogue games like star wars tricky as you have a shorter throw..
So it is and it isn’t a one-stop-solution.
I’d install servo sticks for your four main joys, and have an additional U360 without the restrictor for analog style flight games.

Cool. You could always have player one sticks with restrictors and player two without, then when you want to play an analogue game you switch over to the player two controls.
