Marquee holder

Where is a good place to buy a marquee holder?  I searched Suzo but I did not see any results.
I'm also open to custom hacks if you guys have good ideas.

A little pricier but it's black aluminum, and more than enough for a couple marquees depending on the width you need.

Just a note that in many areas you can only get regular aluminum L channel and the black stuff has to be shipped.  I wouldn't normally mention that as that normally not a big deal, but you know, covid.

This may not satisfy the look you're going for, but since you mentioned custom hacks... If you have a router, you could make one out of wood.

I created mine as basically a picture frame. It's nothing more than a rectangle of wood wirh a recessed area for the Plexiglas and marquee to slide into. I keep it in place with actual picture frame tabs on the back that protrude onto the Plexiglas but not beyond the recessed window (otherwise you'd see the silhouette of the tabs).

That is one option if you have access to wood and the tool and don't want to wait on shipping.

For my Robotron and Joust builds I made my own out of aluminum L channel from Home Depot.  For the bottom I put one L shape on top of another with a gap for the marquee.  I mounted mine to the front of a Williams speaker grill reproduction with a board inside of it.  So to get a tight fit I first mount one L shape on the front corner of the grill and I counter sink these holes....usually 3 such that the screws are flush or just below the surface.  Then I fit a second L shape on top of the first using the marquee to get the spacing and I clamp it in place and drill 5 holes through both pieces of aluminum.  Then take it all apart and spray it all black including the 5 mounting screws.  I was able to get 2 different size L shapes such that when you offset the inside piece its flush with the outside piece.  Ends up looking professional.

This is the way.

Aluminum L-bracket from Home Depot is a few dollars at most and can be easily cut with a chop saw.  Cut to length, position the marquee and hold it together with some painter's tape.  Then mark your holes (evenly spaced).  Drill them out and hit both pieces with some rattlecan black and you are good to go.

Yup.... Done mine the same way. Can get aluminum angle at any home improvement store. I hit mine with a little self etching primer, black satin, satin clear

These guys have the right idea. I picked up some plastic wall edge protectors and sprayed the back of them black. This keeps the front nice and smooth. Same idea as the aluminum but flexes a bit for angles.

I also used some plastic L strips to hold my marquee. Easy to work with and they come in black.
