Zippyy Joystick for 2 way
« on: February 02, 2021, 10:44:53 am »
Ok, So I am a little crazy.  I have more lose screws than a hardware store after an earthquake.   I live in a small condo with a wife and son, so I can not exactly open a Funspot or Galloping Ghost for my own pleasure.  So I have to rely on emulation.   I want to make the arcade experience as authentic as possible.   I have 2 X-Arcades, and have replaced the joysticks with Dominux8's.  I am old (53) and prefer the leaf springs to the micro switches).  1 is dedicated 4-way, the other 8-way.   I just bought a real racing wheel, and am 3D printing an adapter to sit on top of a spinner for Pole Position and others.  I have a Star Wars yoke.  I have a Tron stick and spinner.  Also building a 720 type joystick for you guessed it, 720.   Ok, you get the idea.  I am nuts.

I am 3D printing a couple of control panels for games that need there own dedicated panels.   One is a dedicated video poker / video slots / / video blackjack.   a dedicated Defender / Stargate panel, a dedicated Tapper panel with the real tap (already completed), a Dedicated Timber panel, a dedicated Q*vert / Congo Bongo panel with diagonal joystick).   OK, you get the idea.

So my question is....   I am sure the Zippyy stick is pretty much crap judging by the price.  Hell, I can get FIVE zippyy's for the price of ONE Dominux8.  I have a need for several 2 way sticks.  (Defender panel, Timber, Tapper etc).   I also want to build a panel for Galaga and Galaxian type games).   Yes, I know, a regular every day joystick works fine, and I even have some laying around.  But I like the feel of a 2 way.    I grew up in the late 70s and early 80s and played a lot of the TAITO cocktail version of Space Invaders with the 2 way stick it had and really liked it.  Trying to replicate that same feel.  Is the Zippyy good for 2 way games?   Sorry for the rambling, I feel like I am hung over  I work 12 hour days, and have not had a day off in 3 weeks.  Very tired, and brain not functioning.    Thanks for any and all help.

Wow, Those things are inexpensive and also have a 2,4 & 8 way restrictor plate. For the price worth a try. Can these use a Happ style mount? I am using the four way PAC reunion stick for both 2 & 4 way games so haven't tried the Zippy.

The Zippyy (Seimitsu LS-32 knockoff) uses a Japanese mount pattern.

You would need an adapter plate to attach it to a Happ pattern.
